So Elon wants to buy twitter

 

Elon Musk has expressed interest in wanting to buy one of the largest social media networks in the world. what that would mean for people in the adult industry is a perplexing question to  try to answer. Musk has always stated that he is economically conservative but socially liberal. I share some of those political sensibilities however I know that I am a petty fucker. What that means basically is I know that I would ban people if they pissed me off if I where in a position of power over an extensive social media network. 

Twitter as it stands is the ONLY social media network that allows users to share uncensored hardcore sexual content so long as that content is properly labeled. However Twitter does currently crack down on  sex workers using the network to openly advertise their in person services. So Courtesans have to be more discreet in how they advertise themselves . It also means they have to create two and three and four different twitter handles just in case one of them gets deactivated. 

I guess the biggest issue for me personally with Musk is the fact that he does not see the social media as part of the public trust. He believes in some sense that people should be able to share whatever they want even if that information is categorically false. During the height of the pandemic Musk was quick to retweet misinformation about Covid-19 and he moved one of his largest Tesla Plants from California to Texas because he did not want to shut down. It has also been reported that Tesla had numerous Covid outbreaks in their facilities and he did little to nothing to make sure his workers had adequate PPE while they where working. One can only assume that stories like that could not be shared over twitter if Musk where allowed to purchase it. 

The fact that Musk would not crack down on misinformation is a problem. One also has to remember that Musk at the end of the day is a business man. He might allow Sex Workers to freely advertise their services but only as long as it didn't affect his bottom line. If it suddenly became less advantageous for him to allow sex workers on his platform. Adult content creators of all kinds could see a major crackdown on there social media presence. 

Musk's last offer to buy twitter was worth 41 Billion. That is more than twice the amount of twitter's reported total worth. I believe if Musk where to purchase Twitter as a whole it would not be a positive situation for adult content creators and other Sex workers. Twitter as it stands is not free open platform for people in the adult industry but they created a tolerable medium where they can coexist. Musk buying the platform is a brand new set of circumstances that we just don't know how it would affect adult content creators after the dust settled. The devil you know vs the devil you don't Seems like a fitting cliché to describe this situation.
